Breastfeeding positive building

WHY? Breastfeeding has proven maternal and infant health, social, economic and wellbeing benefits, however, the UK has some of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world, with 8 out of 10 mothers stopping breastfeeding before they want to. At three months 17% of UK babies are exclusively breastfed which drops to just 1% at six months. Only 34% of babies are receiving any breast milk at six months of age, compared to 62% in Sweden. (UNICEF data).  Increasing breastfeeding rates translate into reduced demand on healthcare services. Our staff have had training in how to best support patients who wish to breastfeed and we welcome breastfeeding in our practice spaces. Please approach a member of staff if you would need a quiet space to breastfeed whilst visiting our sites.
